Cooling down

Home from Mass. Just finished a tomato, basil, mozzarella salad with a balsamic glaze. Delicious. The basil was from the sharing table at church today. I also grabbed some yellow squash. Our garden this year did awful.

Today is menu making and grocery shopping day. To cut costs in the grocery budget, I’m going to add a soup & salad night. I might also add a baked potato night. Our grocery bill always seems to be so high. I don’t buy many boxed items and I’m finding that because I purchase mostly whole foods – the cost is higher.

The weather has cooled down. I’m so glad! I don’t love the hot weather at all. With the cooler temps I’m more motivated to exercise.

I’m going to use the Trim Healthy Mama cookbook again for some items. I tried “the shrinker” drink and really liked it.

I’m cutting out bread, rice and flour tortillas also. Making meals a bit healthier. I love carbs though, so it’s hard. Late night snacking while reading is also hard. It’s the one time of day I have some quiet and I tend to snack while reading without realizing how much I’ve had. Not good.
Here are. Couple of our last dinners.

School starts on Tuesday so today I need to find a little time to hem Anna’s uniform pants! I went thrifting at the Goodwill yesterday for a few fall items to add to my wardrobe. 3 dress shirts, 3 sweaters and a long flannel nightgown (Vermont county store brand) all for $40!! I was pleased!

From the readings today:
“Whoever wishes to come to me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? Or what can one give in exchange for his life? For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father’s glory, and then he will repay all according to his conduct.”

I’ve been thinking and praying a lot these last few weeks to give up my worry and concern at His feet (about the daycare, our income, my husbands schedule) Knowing we’re doing His will. Believing we are. Things will fall into place and work out. My worry only worsens my resolve to keep my head high and focused.

  1. What a yummy food post! Also, you have nice handwriting. IT’s been muggy here all weekend…looking forward to lesser humidity soon. HUGS. (oh and nice fiesta!)
